Bretagne autour du monde

The construction of the Bretagne autour du monde event is based on a collective and participative approach. The programming committee actively includes Cleunay district residents, members of the building's associations and site users, uniting diverse perspectives around a common ambition. By meeting once a month, these actors create a space for dialogue and exchange, essential to building the cultural programming of the site. At each meeting, proposals are put forward, which are then refined and guided by the division into thematic working groups.

The Bretagne autour du monde event was built around a collective, intercultural dynamic, embodied in the collection of local and international tales. In collaboration with users of the DIDA association, and thanks to the involvement of Robert Bouthillier of the Dastum association, stories from a variety of traditions were collected. This collection work was the first step in an ambitious approach: the aim was not simply to compile stories, but to rework them carefully. Workshops were then held to determine the most authentic way of presenting them at the event. This process conveys the richness of the world's cultures, offering narrative programming that is both deeply rooted and universal.

The event kicks off on Thursday, May 15, with a thrilling evening: doors open at 8:00 p.m. with Litha, who sets the mood with authentic traditional Breton music, before the Imarhan group Timbuktu transports you to Mali, into the spellbinding world of Tuareg music. The night concludes on a resolutely Breton note with Eris.

On Saturday, May 17, the festival unfolds in many different ways. From 3:00 p.m., visitors can enjoy an exhibition of silver photos, texts and drawings. From 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a language workshop offers the opportunity to discover and learn several idioms (Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Tibetan, Peul, Amharic) spoken by users of the DIDA association, confirming the intercultural ambition of the event, while from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a storytelling vigil invites visitors to discover the oral and traditional transmission of stories.

At the same time, Compagnie Dounia will offer an initiation to dances from Tunisia, Algeria, Ethiopia, Polynesia, Palestine and Brittany. This initiation will resonate with the Bab el Dans' project, which invites spectators to enter into the dance.

Shaking up traditions and musical frontiers

The evening continues in the auditorium Krenaden kicks off an innovative electronic festnoz, followed at 9pm by Bab el Dans, from Compagnie Dounia and Dj Freshhh, who will get the audience dancing, and then Siymelik , who offer a repertoire fusing influences from Brittany and the Middle East, before closing with the Afro-Caribbean rhythms of Looshan.

Sunday May 18 is a time for family fun: in the afternoon, a fair takes place, accompanied by a cricket tournament and crêpe tasting.

The auditorium reopens at 5:00 p.m., and at 5:30 p.m., Maela hag Anouk enchant the audience with their traditional Breton music, before the Senegalese group Ibson Daone takes over, inviting us to discover another musical universe. The tradition then continues with a second performance by Maëlla and Hanoug, ending with Eben unveiling their new creation Douar Nevez (new land).

Bretagne autour du monde is much more than just a festive occasion: it's a veritable cultural odyssey that shakes up codes and fervently celebrates the diversity of musical traditions and influences. This festival builds bridges between the cultures of Brittany and cosmopolitan modernity, offering an experience that invites everyone to experiment with heritages in perpetual reinvention.
